When Cruize started loosing weight in April- I had him on adlib hay and tried a couple of different feeds to try help. He was always a great dooer so I was shocked!
It kept getting worse and his poos softened too much so I added some well known supplements and nothing changed even when I just kept him on chaff and the supplements to rule out changes in his diet. He rhen got severely tucked up and had muscular spassums in his hind.. you could physically hear his gut too loudly and see the cramping movements.
I contacted Healthy Horses Inside Out as it timed well that they needed a few horses to try their "Rebuild" gut suppliment on and with cruize already trying a few I'm like what worse could happen lol.
Well within- I kid you not- 2 whole days the gut spazzums stopped enough where we were able to start other treatments (the vets weren't too sure about upsetting his stomach more but with the spassums calming down we were able to try something else).
He was ripped right to the basics on HHIO Vital and HHIO Rebuild with a tiny bit of copra, chaff and Linseed and salt and adlib hay.
Once his poos settled a little and he was off meds the vets said to keep on his feed regime and see if he goes backwards again but if I have the feed right he should just keep improving.
After 2 months on Rebuild we moved onto HHIO Performace and HHIO Restore to increase the nutrients and the gut health now he was happier. I started 2 weeks ago on this and am now able to add more into his feed so he gets Hekakeo (I'll spell check soon) Gastro Fuel (only 500g) and Coprice Ricebran (500g), chaff, salt and copra.
And 2 weeks later we are already cutting down again on the rice bran lol.
I'm NOT sponsored in anyways but I have been asked what I did to help Cruize and I really feel the Rebuild did wonders with the tension in his hind and helped him settle because the other products I tried for a week or 2 and saw nothing and within 2 days of changing he was so much happier.
Not saying the other products are bad- but it does go to show that if you need to follow your gut to try something else then do that! Every horse will respond differently to different products. What works for one may not work for another.
Much love from Cruize and I xx
